Swedish PM: There is information suggesting that at least one data cable between Sweden and Latvia has been damaged in the Baltic Sea. The cable is owned by a Latvian entity. I have been in close contact with my Latvian counterpart, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, during the day. Sweden, Latvia and NATO are closely cooperating on the matter. French Minister of the Armed Forces: On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, a French Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft was the target of Russian intimidation measures. It was patrolling international airspace over the Baltic Sea, as part of a NATO operation, and was illuminated by the fire control radar of an S400 ground-to-air defense system. This aggressive Russian action is not acceptable. Our armed forces will continue to act to defend freedom of navigation in international air and maritime spaces.

Rutte says stepped-up action in the Baltic Sea "cannot wait for some summit" (like that in his home country in June). He says NATO will get "Baltic Sentry" up and running in the next couple of months

1 month agoA Panama-flagged oil tanker, the “Eventin,” became disabled north of Rügen island in the Baltic Sea, carrying 99,000 tons of oil. No environmental threat or danger to the crew. It was en route from Ust-Luga (Russia) to Port Said (Egypt). Tow operation underway
The Panamanian-flagged oil tanker "Eventin" (274m long and 48m wide) has gotten immobile off the Baltic Sea island of Rügen (Germany). The ship carries 99,000 tonnes of oil. According to Greenpeace, it is part of Russia's Shadow Fleet
